This weekend we saw a crash in the computer systems that manage electronic benefit transfers (EBT's). Panicked food stamp recipients rushed grocery store shelves to get everything they could while the system was down. Total chaos ensued in some WalMart stores, who could not check the balances on the cards and allowed people to use them, anyway, resulting in the store shelves being completely cleaned out within two hours.
The worst is yet to come - next month. The USDA, which oversees the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP), has just issued an order to SNAP agency directors calling for their respective States to implement an emergency contingency program because of government funding issues. In a letter obtained by the Crossroads Urban Center food pantry, the USDA is directing state agencies to, “delay their November issuance files and delay transmission to State Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) vendors until further notice.”
Therefore, if Congress fails to increase the debt ceiling this week, in November there will be millions of people in the United States who will have no money transferred to their EBT cards. Fifty million people depend on these benefits to survive.
I believe this was a test run by the Powers, in their runup to martial law at any cost.
What will be cut off next? Social Security checks?
