Why Lies Are Believed, And Truth Isn't

I once believed that huge conspiracies could not possibly be true because three people can't stick to the same story, let alone huge governments.

I was wrong. There was one factor I had left out of the equation, and that factor was Satan. The American people are suffering under massive deceptions and delusions because Satan (who more than half of the people do not believe in) is the ruler of this world. He is capable of controlling governments from beginning to end. It's such a huge story that it's almost impossible to know where to begin. So, I won't begin at all. I'll just address the 'why' people believe the lies.

People's personal identities and set of moral values allow them to become emotionally involved in a certain set of beliefs. They are always looking for information that supports those beliefs, while avoiding information that challenges those beliefs. They are not looking for facts. This is why they love certain commentators and certain TV channels; they support what they already believe.

Hitler outlined in Mein Kampf why big lies are ignored while small ones are believed: “In the simplicity of their minds, people more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods. It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have such impudence. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and continue to think that there may be some other explanation.”

I have noticed that people who know nothing whatever of the facts will, nevertheless, become angry and defensive when presented with actual facts by expert investigators. These people simply refuse to even hear the facts, let alone accept them, because that would mean changing their paradigm. Very few people have the education necessary to follow the technical and scientific aspects. The side that they believe tells them one story; the side that they don’t (want to) believe tells them another. They have no basis to judge the relative merits of the arguments, and they refuse to listen long enough to notice the gaping contradictions. They refuse to hear any evidence. They simply ignore it if it is outside their belief system.

I have seen many people who become enraged at any article that reports anything outside their belief system. People refer to the work as 'garbage' or worse and believe the information should be suppressed just because it is inconsistent with what they already believe. This happens even if they have no understanding of the material being presented. They are offended emotionally.

With all the information blatantly in front of us that the government lies, cheats and steals from us, still these people will defend and believe the government on certain issues. For reasons that escape me, they believe that the government that lies to them about everything else tells them the truth about those certain issues. They are emotionally involved, as if one or ten more lies would make any difference. Why not listen to the evidence of experts?

Sometimes I hear "well, if thus and so is true, how come no experts say it," when in fact the issue is littered with far more expert and credible facts than the side that is lying. "Who's spreading this garbage?" they'll ask, when all they 'know' is what they have heard from their favorite news commentator, who they absolutely idolize (because he agrees with their already held beliefs). It usually takes people with tremendous courage to speak out because these people's jobs, and even their lives, are at stake when they do, character traits that these doubters claim to greatly honor.

Anyone who does not tout the official line is automatically labeled a kook. The perpetrators of the BIG LIE know this and they love to use these kooks to ridicule the very idea of anything that threatens their big lie. Ridicule is the highest form of safety for the liars. It is their first - and most effective - tool. So when you hear your favorite commentator consistently ridicule something, always be suspicious that it is true.

The bottom line is that most people do not want to know the truth. I have just discovered this in recent years, and it has been an astonishing insight. This makes it laughably easy for the government to perpetuate a big lie.

Our system of government rests on the assumption that the people are intelligent, will examine all the facts and cannot be manipulated. Unfortunately that assumption has been, and continues to be, our downfall. The vast majority of people do not have the desire or ability to follow the truth no matter where it leads.

The reason all this is so crystal clear to me is that I was awakened to the fact that I was doing that very same thing a few years ago. Since that time I have followed the truth no matter where it took me. And it led me into stunning territory when I researched for the factual information. I discovered I was not living in the world I thought I was in. It's a lonely path.

It's much more dangerous to believe the lies. It is inevitable that the truth always shows up.

Ready or not.
