"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths." 2 Timothy 4:3,4.
The liberal theologian has done more to damage Christianity than all the atheists in the world. Why? Because he is disguised as a preacher or teacher of God's Word. He is a wolf in sheep's clothing, an interloper, a liar, misrepresenting himself as something he is not. He does massive harm as the pastor of a church, but even more damage if he is a seminary professor since he is in charge of many who will be pastors of churches.
These tools of Satan have caused one seminary after another, one denomination after another, one mission field after another, to fall into apostasy. This is why there is such massive spiritual blindness in these last days. They have not fed the sheep. They have caused the sheep to be led astray, down wrong paths. They are false prophets. God's wrath will fall more heavily on them.
They are not Christians, yet they pass themselves off as though they were. They do not believe in God's Word, the virgin birth, Jesus Christ, His divinity, His redemptive death or His resurrection. They are puffed up and see themselves as great philosophical thinkers. They are purveyors of a religion of their own invention, with Satan's help. They are interlopers.
To add insult to injury, you almost never hear Christian leaders raise a word in protest of this evil. By their silence they aid and abet, when they should be warning the sheep about these infidels. The people with the loudest voices on this issue seem to be lay people.
W. A. Criswell says that the famous infidel Robert Ingersoll was once asked why he had stopped lecturing against God and the Bible. He replied: "Divinity professors and preachers are doing it better than I. There is no need for me."
That says it all.
