INTERDIMENSTIONAL TRAVEL

INTER DIMENSIONAL TRAVEL
by Ron Graham
4/12/2012

“And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots.” 2 Kings 6:15a. Elisha’s servant was horrified as he woke up one morning and found that he and his master were surrounded by a massive force of enemy troops, horses, and chariots. Try and put yourself in this servant’s shoes for a moment. You’ve risen early in the morning ready to busy yourself with that day’s chores. As you head out the door your eyes focus on thousands of enemy soldiers, you’re suddenly frozen in your steps. You somehow find the strength to go back in the house, close the door behind you, and begin frantically searching for the phone to call 911.

We can assume that was this servant’s reaction to what he had just witnessed (minus the phone call to 911). The servant ran to his master’s quarters and being full of fear cried out “… Alas, my master! how shall we do?” 2 Kings 6:15b. We don’t really realize the terror in this man’s mind as we read these simple English words, but he was surely shaken to the core. The servant was sure he and his master were toast.

As we read this account in 2 Kings we find that Elisha wasn’t at all shaken. As a matter of fact, quite the opposite was the case. Elisha was unnaturally calm and supernaturally at ease. He obviously knew something that his servant didn’t. Elisha proceeded to calm the fears of his servant with this simple phrase “And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.” 2 Kings 6:16

Elisha explained to his servant that they (the angelic force) who were with them were more than they (a demonic force?) that were with the surrounding enemy troops. The Hebrew word translated into our English word “more” actually means – great, exceedingly, abundant, strong. In other words they were fully protected. But the servant couldn’t see anyone but the enemy troops.

“And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see…” 2 Kings 6:17a. Because Elisha’s servant was so completely overtaken with fear, Elisha asked God to open his servant’s eyes so he could see what Elisha saw. Notice that only God can open our eyes so that we may spiritually discern.

“…And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw...” 2 Kings 6:17b. Here in this portion of the verse we see that God complies with Elisha’s prayer request and allows his servant a view of what was truly going on outside. What that servant saw can only be described as supernatural travelers. An army of God’s holy angels had surrounded Elisha and his servant, as well as the throng of enemy combatants.

This unseen army of angels could overpower the enemy’s soldiers a thousand times over. “…and behold the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.” 2 Kings 6:17c

When we read this in the Hebrew we realize that what Elisha’s servant saw was the hill country that encompassed them was overflowing with an innumerable force of angelic hosts along with their chariots of fire standing at the ready to keep Elisha safe. The servant must have been in awe when God gave him supernatural sight as he beheld the awesome angelic army poised to protect them.

Obviously God does not allow most of humanity to physically see into other dimensions, but that is precisely what Elisha’s servant was allowed to view – another dimension. People today have become desensitized to the supernatural. The fact that Satan has been portrayed for so long as having horns, a red suit and a pointed tail, diminishes who he actually is, which by the way is exactly what he wants us to believe.

The truth is, Satan can manifest himself as an angel of light and he can do so whenever he chooses. He’s not going to show himself as he truly is, a hideous, monstrous, repulsive, and lying being, as mankind would be revolted by his presence. This is exactly why we are to test all spirits.

More than likely, if a person today were allowed a view into the dimension of the supernatural such as witnessing a host of godly angels with their chariots of fire surrounding a horde of malevolent supernatural predators the rest of humanity would simply say that they had imagined or dreamed it. For most of mankind living in this 21st century there is no such thing as supernatural beings or other dimensions.

As Elisha’s servant found out early that morning, the supernatural realm is not only real but quite active. The angels that remained faithful to God are hard at work continually staving off the attacks of our enemy and his ilk. We can’t see into other dimensions, as a matter of fact we can only see three of the four we occupy. If we could see into the dimension of the supernatural the view would almost certainly scare us to death.

The closeness of other dimensions is much more intimate to the space we occupy than most believe or are able to comprehend. The distance between dimensions is not time based. The supernatural beings that travel between dimensions do so at such speed that if we could gage that speed we would find their journeys occurring in less than in the twinkling of an eye.

The Apostles Paul and John were allowed to travel between dimensions. Paul tells us “I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven. And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.” 2 Corinthians 12:2-4. Paul is speaking of himself. God took him to Heaven, in fact He raptured Paul. The English phrase “caught up” in the Greek is “harpazō”, which is also used when Paul references the Rapture of the “ekklesia. Paul was allowed to see Paradise, but He was not allowed to describe what He saw. Although we can conjecture all sorts of wonders which Paul was permitted to see, we can’t even scratch the surface of enormity of it all.

The Apostle John “ascended” to the Throne Room of God. “After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.” Revelation 4:1. The phrase “Come up” in the Greek means to ascend. The phrase “a door was opened” we might view as a portal that would break the plane of our dimension and which would enable us to see into that other dimension. Certainly John was given this opportunity and was even taken to that supernatural realm.

“Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 18:10. This is an interesting verse; Jesus tells us that the angels protecting little children are always looking upon the face of our Father in Heaven. Angels are not visible to mankind unless they choose to be. They are in another dimension invisible to the human eye, but they are always with us. I know that’s hard to fathom. If angels are always looking upon God yet they are here on earth protecting us from the enemy, how far away can our Father be?

Here’s a true story for all to ponder. When our youngest daughter was born we lived with my wife’s granddad. When he died our daughter, who was around a year old, would stand on the couch and hold out her arms in mid air as though she was giving someone a hug. This occurred numerous times, she and her great-granddad were very close and my wife just assumed she was seeing him (her granddad) and hugging him. Soon, though, the hugs ceased. After becoming a believer I realized there was no way possible our little girl could have been seeing and hugging her great-granddad, after all he was no longer of this earth. Could it be that she was hugging her angel? Was our daughter able to see into another dimension, a dimension in which adults can no longer view? Food for thought.

Most people believe we humans are separated from the realm we refer to as Heaven (the domain of the angels and of God) by some huge span of space, possibly even millions or billions of miles. But dimensions are not separated by miles or even feet, but only by humanity’s lack of ability to see.

Dimensional trekking has always been part of the makeup of angels as they’re sent by God to bring messages to mankind. However, the appearing and disappearing of angels has not been solely limited to God’s holy angelic forces but has actually been a supernatural highway of late, traveled incessantly by malevolent supernatural beings bent on the destruction of mankind. This is more evident now that we are in the last days just prior to our Lords return.

These inter dimensional activities are increasing as never before. The UFO activity is astounding. Even if you believe they represent travelers from distant galaxies or parallel universes you must admit the sightings are becoming an everyday event. Why? Why do we see this phenomenon increasing so dramatically? What has happened to mankind’s way of thinking that would favor this increased activity into our dimension? It’s a fact that the super majority of the earth’s inhabitants now believe UFO’s are real. With that premise in mind, could it be that mankind is being setup for the next incursion by fallen angels?

Now that most believe in UFO’s, and most of those folks believe they are extraterrestrial travelers, the enemy’s next big deception is ready to be unveiled. What that deception is, is only known to him but it has been building to a crescendo for thousands of years. It is a lie that the enemy will focus the world’s attention on just as soon as Christ removes His “ekklesia.

Since mankind is not allowed to view the supernatural dimension, most rely on their own perceptions of truth to get by from day to day. But believing in only what we can see allows the enemy to promote many falsehoods knowing full well that many people will accept them as truth (just one example of Satan’s many lies would be the theory of evolution).

It would have been very difficult to deceive Elisha’s servant since his eyes had been opened and he was allowed to see the Lord’s host of angels surrounding him and his master. But the rest of humanity has not been given that same sight, apart from possibly toddlers. Once we move out of that age of innocence, blindness sets in and we can no longer see the angels who stand at our side. But they are there nonetheless.

“For we walk by faith, not by sight:” 2 Corinthians 5:7. What happens to mankind once dimensional blindness sets in? The spiritually blind dismiss other dimensions, and especially God, as myth and fairy tales. Is it possible that once we move out of the toddler stage we become vision impaired, hence the reason for walking by faith not by sight?

The supernatural realm is extremely active in these last days. There is no doubt that they know something most of earth’s population hasn’t a clue of. As followers of Jesus Christ we do know what’s coming and we would be remiss as true believers and bond servants of Jesus the Christ to simply sit idly by watching while the signs of the birth pangs spoken of by our Lord increase. There must be a sense of conviction on the heart of every believer in Christ—a conviction that we might not have done everything we could for God, and that time is running out. Could it be that just one more attempt at explaining the Gospel message is all a family member or a friend might need to bring them to their knees? Jesus is patiently waiting. The born again will see Him soon. The lost will not, at least not until it’s too late. The Holy Spirit is always working, He never gives up on the living, nor should we.

About Angels

Rather than labor over an explanation of angels myself, the information on this post comes from a Bible commentator. I plan to do a blog series on angels and demons soon. This is a quick summary.

The term, angel, i.e., "messenger," is used of God, of men, and of an order of created spiritual beings whose chief attributes are strength and wisdom.

In the Old Testament the expression "the angel of the Lord" (sometimes "of God") usually implies the presence of Deity in angelic form. In the New Testament the word "angel" is used of men. In Rev. 8:3-5 Christ is evidently meant. Sometimes "angel" is used of the spirit of man.

Though angels are spirits, power is given them to become visible in the semblance of human form (as men). The word is always used in the masculine gender, though sex, in the human sense, is never ascribed to angels.

They are exceedingly numerous. Their power is inconceivable. Their place is about the throne of God. Their relation to believers is that of "ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation," and this ministry has reference largely to the physical safety and well-being of children of God. It appears that this care for the heirs of salvation begins in our infancy and continues through life. The angels observe us, a fact which should influence conduct.

Man is made "a little lower than the angels," and in the incarnation Christ took "for a little [time]" this lower place that He might lift the Christian into His own sphere above angels.

The angels are to accompany Christ in His second advent. To them will be committed the preparation of the judgment of individual Gentiles among the nations. The Kingdom Age is not to be subject to angels, but to Christ and those (us) for whom He was made a little lower than the angels. An archangel, Michael, is mentioned as having a particular relation to Israel and to the resurrections. The only other angel whose name is revealed, Gabriel, was employed in the most distinguished services.

In regard to fallen angels, two classes are mentioned: 1) "The angels who kept not their first estate [place], but left their own habitation" and are chained under darkness, awaiting judgment. And 2) the angels who are not bound, but go about doing the will of Satan. They may be identical with the demons. Everlasting fire is prepared for Satan and his angels.

I hope this quick summary doesn't raise more questions than it answers, which it seems to me that it does. Nevertheless, I love studying the angels and plan to write in more detail later.

Pictures of Jesus, Angels & Satan?

No wonder we are so confused - with all the phony pictures of Jesus, angels and the devil floating around. I get them from well-meaning people in my email all the time. I don't want to be critical of those who send these pictures because I know they mean no harm. But sometimes we do harm just because we haven't stopped to think about it.

There is no portrait or likeness of Jesus, God the Father, angels or devils in existence on the face of the earth. That is by design. It's no accident. It's how God wanted it.

Jesus was a carpenter, a 'regular' man, not the effeminate creature that these sissified pictures so often portray. Our every-day guys who work in construction look a lot more like he did than those pictures, I would venture to say. The hair really drives me crazy. Men in the Roman Empire during that period did not have hair down to their waists. Actually, it was rather short. These effeminate pictures are designed from way back in history to turn both men and women off and give them a false view of what Christ looked like. It is more of Satan's counterfeiting operation. Jesus was nothing special to look at. We know that. The scriptures say that he was not 'comely.'

For all practical purposes we are looking at an idol when we identify these pictures with Jesus Christ, because the memory of the picture is the way we view him in our mind's eye - and that view is a false one. Our worship and devotion to Christ is impacted by our mental pictures of him. In that sense it is detrimental to our relationship with him in ways that we are unable to fathom and, therefore, our personal relationship with him is impacted by this false image to which we are relating.

Personally, I want to eliminate every single detriment or false image that might in any way interfere with my relationship with my Lord.

We have a similar problem when it comes to those cutesy pictures of angels. I can testify to the fact that they have become less angelic in the past few years. The face has become somewhat distorted, which I noticed about 25 or so years ago. The eyes have become rounder and the smile somewhat distorted, almost like little demons. Pictures of angels were once more beautiful and majestic, but still totally inaccurate.

The Bible describes angels as appearing in the form of men in many places in scripture - yes, regular human beings who have even been described as sitting down to a meal with people. Other than those descriptions we have no portrayal of them in any other form, with the exception of the cherubim and the higher angelic beings who serve directly in God's presence and are described in forms unlike any being which we have ever seen. It appears that angels have the ability to 'manifest' in more than one form. There again, the picture portrayals of them detract from what God wants us to know about them, and gives us a false picture instead. They were beings that evoked great awe and fear, not chubby little beings with distorted grins.

As for Satan, in the pictures we see he is usually depicted as a horrible, ugly creature with horns and a pointed tail, which is beyond ridiculous, and it gives us an utterly false mental image of him. The Bible describes him as a creature of great beauty and allure. It was that very beauty which made him proud enough to believe he could replace God. These pictures that we so often see give us a truly distorted idea of just who he is. He is belittled in our sight, rather than giving us a truthful portrayal of him as our primary foe and adversary.

We have no clue what God, Jesus, angels or the devil look like, and yet our mental images have been fixed so that when we think of them we see these falsehoods which, in every case, are greatly inaccurate, misleading, and I think they are also dangerous to the point of being a hindrance to our faith. If we venerate these picture beings, they can become idols. This is why God specifically banned the making of images of heavenly beings (including stars, moon, sun, etc.).

It would be interesting to do some research into Christian art to see how all of these heavenly beings have come to be so greatly diminished in our eyes, through these false representations.

It must be the work of that horned creature with the forked tail.

What Do Angels Look Like?

In these last days in which we live it's important to be able to recognize angels when we see them.

When we see them? Yes, indeed.

Have I ever seen one? Not that I know of, but I would not state with certainty that I have not seen an angel - be it a fallen angel or one of God's own angelic host. And I think I would know since they don't usually wander around with a lack of purpose when they visit.

I am certain, though, that they have been involved in my life on many occasions, since assisting and protecting God's people is the primary concern of a portion of the angelic hierarchy who are assigned to that task. And of course the fallen angels have their agendas, too (and I'm pretty sure I was on that list).

I fully expect to be seeing them as our encounters in the spiritual battle intensify and ultimately lead to living on earth with Jesus Christ himself, who will reign and rule here in the very near future. I fully expect to see Him and the angelic host.

I'm afraid most people are so preoccupied with living 'in the flesh,' so out of tune with spiritual realities, that they envision angels as Caspar the friendly ghost wafting around. That's not it.

There are also increasing numbers of people who are involved in such strictly forbidden activities as transcendental meditation and that whole New Age scene (even many who claim to be Christian), and are meeting up with entities. They believe these personages to be spirit guides or representations of God, when in reality they are encountering demonic entities.

These people are seeking an experience; it's what they feel that counts. They fall for every phony TV preacher who tells about his 'experience' when he went to heaven. We are explicitly warned against all this.

"Unless you people see signs and wonders, you simply will not believe." John 4:48

"Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world." 1 John 4:1

Testing the spirits involves lining things up with scripture, which is always the final authority. In approximately ten out of ten cases, I have found that the stories told by these people are as transparently false as can be - not the experience itself, but the legitimacy of it.

With a very few exceptions in biblical history, God does not work this way. We are to live by faith.

"...and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory." 1 Peter 1:8

'Jesus said to him, "Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed."' John 20:29

I was headed in a completely different direction with this post when I wrote the first two short paragraphs above, but was led off in a different direction. Lest I leave you hanging with the opening teaser, let me assure you that I will be writing more about these angel persons as we go along. It is one of my favorite areas of study and an area in which it is critical that we be educated in these last days because most people are totally and dangerously misinformed about angels and demons.

Stay tuned.

Truth is Stranger Than Fiction

Who could ever have dreamed up something as incredible as the birth and meaning of Jesus? Only the Creator of the universe! Truth is always much more interesting than fiction.

Everything about the gospel message is fantastic. The creator dying for the created. The judge paying the penalty for the guilty. The God of the universe laying aside his royalty, being born in human form in a lowly stable to not only become the servant, but to suffer and die on a cross in the most humiliating way, as the perfect sacrifice for the redemption of mankind. Who could think up something like this? Only God. Only he could make it believable - because it was truth. All of the pagan religions would only be shallow copies of God's mind from the beginning of creation, only deceptive imitations.

It was not that simple. There were great concepts that had to be played out. The Messiah could not be born with a sin nature, thus a virgin birth. Stranger than fiction, certainly. Both Joseph and Mary were visited by angels in order to prepare them for their roles.

There were many angel visitations surrounding this amazing arrival of God's only begotten Son. First, the angel of the Lord appeared to the shepherds, who were terrified. And then a great host of angels appeared praising God and bringing the gospel news.

The angels themselves are very interesting. They are very involved in all the affairs here on earth and many are here for the express purpose of ministering to us and for us, the heirs of salvation. They are continually warring with the fallen angels and assisting us in spiritual warfare.

The angels were extremely interested in God's plans for mankind, especially in Jesus' role on earth and the plan of redemption, human beings and how this salvation would play itself out. I believe they were thrilled to be seeing it begin to unfold. The Bible tells us that the angels wondered at all of this, and in our own roles as humans in this, since the angels are not redeemed from sin as we are through Christ's sacrifice. We are never to worship angels but we can be very thankful for them as God's ministering agents to us in our earthly life. They surround us.

Jesus. The Messiah. Fully God, fully human. Sinless. Emmanuel: "God with us."

Amazing story. Amazing truth. Amazing grace.

The complexities in the gospel story can never be exhausted by our human minds and understanding. We should never let this event become trite through annual celebration. There are vast depths to be mined, more than we can understand in our lifetimes. We should finder deeper meaning, deeper praise each year.

Peace on Earth?

I don't think so, some would say to the title of this post.

Things look pretty bad on earth. But when you think about it, things have always looked pretty bad on earth. We just haven't been around to see it. All we see is our own little world. Nothing has changed, though. Things are just the same as they've always been, since the Year One. God had barely got Adam and Eve created and dried off before they were up to mischief. Disobeying. And it's been that way ever since. So when will peace come?

We have good news! We have been given a gift for the world. That gift is peace. Well, what a silly thing to say . . . just look around you. Where is this peace?

A couple of thousand years ago some average folks were just sitting around doing their everyday chores when they were shocked and afraid to hear voices in the sky and to see angels who told them about a baby being born, and that he was bringing "peace on earth, goodwill to men". And so they did what the angels told them and found the baby in a place that felt completely familiar to them: a stable. They brought gifts and worshipped their Savior, who had come to them in a setting they understood. They believed. They obeyed. They had peace.

It really seems too simple, doesn't it? So simple that a child could understand it. A little child with a simple faith, who believes the baby Jesus came to save us from our sins and has brought us peace on earth, good will to men. So simple that we don't need an education, a degree, expertise in a field. In fact, maybe those things get in our way. We want to argue with it...and about it. And complicate it up. We're a little more sophisticated than that, after all. The plain fact is that we can't believe it. But it's the truth.

It is simple enough for anybody. The simple fact is that peace came to earth that night. Anybody can have that peace. It's free. Jesus comes to you right where you are, where you feel comfortable. All you need to do is ask Him to save you from yourself (your sinful condition), to be the Lord of your life and to tell you what to do from now on. Every day. And you obey (that's the hard part). And you will have peace.

Yes, Virginia, there is peace on earth.

Accept the gift of peace this Christmas.
