I hope you will excuse my posting of three other people's articles in a row, but I have a few favorite writers who speak the truth, and I want to share them. Brannon Howse is at the top of my list and I encourage you to go to his website for the unadulterated truth.
Contemplative Spirituality is Drawing Evangelicals to Rome
Now I see that God prefers to work through intermediaries–Mary and the saints . . . He wants us to pray through Mary and not only directly. (p. 154)
[Mary] may bring the churches together again and heal the tears in her Son's visible body on earth, she, the very one who seems to divide Catholics from Protestants. The most distinctive Catholic doctrines, especially those concerning the Eucharist and Mary, may prove to be the most unifying and attracting ones. (p. 158)
Consecrate your life to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. She is the one who will win this war. She is the one (as the Bible says) who triumphs over Satan. (p. 169 – parenthesis in original)
~ Ecumenical Jihad
The author of these words spoke at:
A.) World Youth Day for the Roman Catholic Church
B.) Swimming the Tiber: A conference for Catholic converts sponsored by EWTN
C.) Evangelical Rick Warren's Christian Apologetics Conference at Saddleback
The answer is C. Lighthouse Trails has the full story about the December conference--a report that demonstrates the growing disregard for the basic doctrinal teachings of Scripture. These are the doctrines that are essential to a proper understanding of the Gospel. They were the cause for the Reformation.
As a handful of Christians have been warning for some time, contemplative spirituality is drawing evangelicals to Rome. As could be expected, Rick Warren is leading the charge to overthrow the Reformation and to develop a global ecumenical spirituality that leads invariably back to Rome.
The arterial system for delivering teachings straight into the local church was established by the Purpose-Driven movement in churches over the last 8 years. Hundreds of thousands of evangelical leaders and pastors have looked to Saddleback instead of the Bible as to how to build their churches. The result is that the ecumenical poison in full evidence at Warren's "apologetics" conference will make its way back into those same churches. It was a brilliant scheme.
Instead of a Christian "apologetics" conference, it would be far more appropriate for Rick Warren to sponsor an Apology Conference at Saddleback that would release the following statement:
We hereby apologize to the countless martyrs–men, women and children–down through the centuries who have been hideously tortured and executed for their refusal to compromise biblical truth. We have made mockery of their sacrifice, and most importantly, have been guilty of high treason against the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who is blasphemed when asked to share His throne with Mary or anyone else mankind comes up with. We repent and return to the biblical Gospel once delivered to the saints.
Those who still care about the authority of the teachings of Scripture must shun the seduction by false teachers like Rick Warren. The siren song of ecumenism must be shut out, and the words of our Captain must thunder in our ears.
"And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure to the end, the same shall be saved." (Matthew 24:11-13
